RN Programs in Florida
The demand for nurses and allied health workers in Florida is expected to rise dramatically as the state's population grows older. Florida's nursing shortage could have a "crippling" effect on the state in 10 years if the issue is not addressed, according to a report by the Florida Center for Nursing. The study found that the current state shortage of 11,000 registered nurses could increase to 52,000 by 2020 and cause problems in state health care within six years if the issue is not addressed. Nursing school officials say that efforts to raise the number of nursing graduates have been affected by a lack of hospital space for training and a critical shortage of Nurse Educators.Long-term, health care experts still say the overall nurse shortage will soar to more than of 1 million by 2020, with nurses needed replace an aging work force and deal with long-term care needs of an aging population. In order to meet the increasingly complex demands of today's health care environment, many healthcare agencies prefer or require a minimum of a bachelor's degree for their nursing staff, so now is the perfect time for LPN's to enroll in an online LPN to RN program, or LPN to BSN degree program, for RN's to take an online RN-BSN degree completion program, or RN to MSN bridge program, and for BSN nurses to earn a MS in Nursing degree.
