Online Doctor of Nursing Programs - Nursing Doctoral Degrees

Home >>  Nursing Doctorate

Doctor of Nursing Programs prepare nurses for roles in advanced clinical practice, nursing or healthcare administration, research and academia. Doctoral prepared nurses are in high demand and enjoy lucrative careers in clinical, academic, social, governmental, and healthcare organizational settings.

Nurse Practitioners in a growing number are getting doctorate degrees, and by 2015, all NP programs will require a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. In Fact, the DNP will also be the educational requirement for certification in the three other advanced practice nursing roles: nurse midwife, nurse anesthetist and clinical nurse specialist by 2015.

While the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) primarily prepares nurses for advanced clinical practice roles, other Nursing Doctoral programs are also available, including the Doctor of Nursing Science (DNSc, DNS, DSN), and Doctor of Nursing Philosophy (PhD)
